The Coalition has detailed the launch-season plan for Gears of War: E-Day, confirming the date for Ranked Versus, three themed events and the names of all five currently planned post-launch seasons.

Season 1: Emergence runs through December 1, 2026. Ranked Versus will open on October 13, one week after the standard October 6 launch, giving players time to learn E-Day's maps, movement and multiplayer systems before competitive rankings begin.

Season 1: Emergence

The official E-Day Season 1 update confirms that the launch season lasts eight weeks and includes all launch maps, modes and cosmetics.

Three limited events are planned during the season:

  • Halloween
  • 20 Years of Gears
  • Thanksgibbing

Each event will run for two weeks and include a Versus event mode, a Horde Siege event mission and exclusive rewards.

Ranked starts October 13

The Coalition is deliberately holding Ranked Versus until October 13 rather than opening it on day one.

That gives the wider player base a week to get comfortable with the final launch maps, modes and balance changes before competitive progression begins.

Weekly Challenges follow a similar schedule. The set available to Premium Edition early-access players from October 1 is the same set standard players receive on October 6, with the first refresh on October 13.

The in-game shop will rotate every Tuesday, and The Coalition says players should check for free featured gifts.

Gears of War: Reloaded rewards carry into E-Day

Players who have spent time with Gears of War: Reloaded can unlock extra E-Day cosmetics.

Completing the Prison Breakout Xbox Achievement in Reloaded unlocks the Fire and Fenix Pose in E-Day.

Completing the Re-Up Xbox Achievement unlocks the Old Guard Medal and Locked n' Reloaded Player Title.

These rewards give existing Gears players a small but meaningful link between the remaster and the new game.

All five seasons now have names

The Coalition has confirmed the names of the five currently planned seasons:

  1. Season 1: Emergence
  2. Season 2: Legacy
  3. Season 3: Infiltration
  4. Season 4: Pendulum
  5. Season 5: Devotion

Full content breakdowns for Seasons 3 to 5 have not yet been announced, so the names are the only confirmed details for those later updates.

The developer has previously said the broader seasonal plan will introduce combinations of new maps, modes, characters, skins, Horde Siege classes and limited-time events.

Season 2: Legacy celebrates 20 years of Gears

Season 2 will be called Legacy and will focus on the franchise's 20th anniversary.

The original Gears of War turns 20 on November 7, 2026, and The Coalition says every E-Day player will receive a special birthday gift on that date.

Season 2 will also include an exclusive reward tied to the Dead Serious achievement. Players who complete it will receive a Medal, Player Title, Banner, Emblem, Icon and a Legendary Character skin.

The skin will be revealed at the start of Season 2.

Launch quality-of-life changes

The Coalition has also made several adjustments following the multiplayer beta.

Across Xbox and PC, the launch build includes an FOV slider, improved HDR calibration and options to disable Chromatic Aberration and Film Grain.

PC players also get additional frame-rate controls, including selectable maximums of 30, 60, 90, 120, 144 and 240 FPS as well as an Unlimited setting.

Horde Siege has received balance changes too, covering objectives, difficulty, rewards, class abilities, equipment costs and squad upgrades.

Some classic features are still being considered

Because E-Day was rebuilt on a new gameplay foundation, not every feature from previous Gears games is available at launch.

The Coalition has specifically said that features such as Meat Shields, Chainsaw Duels, Private Lobbies and leaderboards are not considered permanently gone. The team is evaluating what can be delivered or improved after launch or in a future title.

That is not a promise that every old feature will return, but it confirms the launch feature set can continue evolving.

What happens next?

The immediate multiplayer calendar is now straightforward:

  • October 6: standard launch
  • October 13: Ranked Versus and first Weekly Challenge refresh
  • November 7: Gears 20th anniversary player gift
  • December 1: Season 1: Emergence ends

Our E-Day early access and launch overview covers the wider release, Game Pass availability and main modes.

With five seasons already named, E-Day's multiplayer is clearly being positioned as an ongoing part of the game rather than a launch-week extra.
