How to use these cheats

Button names refer to the Xbox controller — A, B, X, Y, the LB/RB bumpers, LT/RT triggers and the D-pad. Unless told otherwise, enter codes from the pause or options menu, or while playing. Some cheats disable achievements for that save — keep a separate save before you start.

Xbox Live on the original Xbox was an online service, not a game, so it has no cheat codes. Button codes you may see listed for it are bogus. The real hidden features are the dashboard diagnostics below.

Network Diagnostics: In the Xbox dashboard go to Settings, then Network Settings, and choose Connect. Once the connection test finishes, press Y to drop down the diagnostic screen, then A for extra read-outs.

Diagnostic Codes: The extra screen reports MT for the MTU test, where 1 means your MTU is 1365 or higher and Xbox Live will work; IC for ICMP, which checks your router forwards those packets; and NT for NAT, where 1 is open, 2 moderate and 3 strict.

Gamertag Recovery: Your account lives on the service rather than the console, so you can recover your gamertag on any Xbox through the account recovery option in the Xbox Live section of the dashboard.

Cheats Note: There are no codes for Xbox Live itself; cheats belong to the individual games you play over the service.
