How to use these cheats
Button names refer to the Xbox controller — A, B, X, Y, the LB/RB bumpers, LT/RT triggers and the D-pad. Unless told otherwise, enter codes from the pause or options menu, or while playing. Some cheats disable achievements for that save — keep a separate save before you start.

Samurai Warriors on the original Xbox has no button codes: new characters, costumes and bonuses are all earned by clearing Story (Musou) mode campaigns or created-general tricks.

| Goemon Ishikawa | Clear Okuni's campaign. |
| Keiji Maeda | In Kenshin Uesugi's Story mode do not eliminate Keiji at the Siege of Gifu, then finish the campaign. |
| Kunoichi | Clear the campaigns of Hanzo Hattori and Shingen Takeda. |
| Magoichi Saika | Clear any character's campaign. |
| Masamune Date | Clear any two Story modes. |
| Nobunaga Oda | Clear the campaigns of Oichi, Noh and Magoichi. |
| Noh | Clear Ranmaru Mori's campaign. |
| Okuni | Clear Keiji Maeda's campaign. |
| Ranmaru Mori | Clear Mitsuhide Akechi's campaign. |
| Shingen Takeda | Clear Yukimura Sanada's campaign. |
Alternate costumes: Clear Story mode with any character, then highlight them on the character select screen and press B to use their alternate costume.
Fight Lu Bu: Reach the 30th sub-level of the Abyss in Survival mode to fight Dynasty Warriors' Lu Bu; his position is marked as a blue square on the map.
Special names: Create a general and give him one of the following names to boost his stats. Some names only take effect in the Japanese version of the game.
