How to use these cheats
Button names refer to the Xbox controller — A, B, X, Y, the LB/RB bumpers, LT/RT triggers and the D-pad. Unless told otherwise, enter codes from the pause or options menu, or while playing. Some cheats disable achievements for that save — keep a separate save before you start.

Madden NFL 2004 has no cheat code screen on Xbox. Madden Cards are earned with tokens, through Mini-Camp golds and by levelling your EA Sports Bio, and there are several owner mode money exploits worth knowing.

Easy tokens in Football 101: Run through every play in your playbook in Football 101 mode for a hefty stack of tokens to spend on Madden Card packs.
Change the menu music: Hold X and press L or R on the menu screens to switch the song.
Free advertising: At the start of the week, check a game scheduled after yours, a Monday night game works best. Before playing, go to the Owner's Box and max out advertising, play your game to bank the boosted attendance, then return to the Owner's Box and drop advertising to zero. Uncheck your game, simulate the rest of the week and the attendance boost stays while the spending does not.
Avoid the cap: To shift a player you dislike, renegotiate his contract so he gets no signing bonus, then trade him. With no bonus attached you take no salary cap hit for the deal.
Cheap strong players: In Franchise, create a player with low attributes and sign him for seven years at a tiny wage. Go back to Create-A-Player, raise all his attributes to 99 and his salary stays low until the contract expires.
Trade for any player: Create a player with an overall rating of 12, sign him cheap as a free agent, then max out his stats in Create-A-Player. He can be traded to any team for the very best players in the NFL.
Players become coaches: Stars who retire in Franchise mode return a couple of years later in the coaching free agent list, where you can sign them as assistant or head coaches.
