How to use these cheats
Button names refer to the Xbox controller — A, B, X, Y, the LB/RB bumpers, LT/RT triggers and the D-pad. Unless told otherwise, enter codes from the pause or options menu, or while playing. Some cheats disable achievements for that save — keep a separate save before you start.
Madden NFL 2002 on Xbox has no cheat code screen; the GOLDENGOD-style password lists found online are for the PC version. On Xbox the extras centre on Madden Cards bought with Challenge tokens, plus a couple of quirks below.
Unlimited John Madden card #298: First collect all 329 Madden Cards. Pick an unwanted card such as a Cheerleader card and sell every copy you own of it. From then on each pack you buy contains a John Madden #298. Stop once you have 15 and sell 14 back; buying further packs past 15 resets your count to zero.
Easy tokens in Two-Minute Drill: Choose two to four profiles and set the Admirals as the defence, then keep throwing to WR2 for easy touchdowns. Scores above 33,000 are possible this way.
Easy tokens II: Create a profile using the Martz playbook and run Two-Minute Drill on Rookie against the Galaxy defence with the Rams. Call Single Back 5 Wide and throw the Hail Mary; Faulk or Hakim is open nearly every time for roughly 220 tokens a session.
Houston Texans: In Franchise mode go through the expansion draft and the Texans become a fully playable team after one season.
Holiday commentary: Play a game on a holiday set on the Xbox system clock and John Madden remarks on it, for example wishing you a happy Turkey Day at Thanksgiving.
