How to use these cheats
Button names refer to the Xbox controller — A, B, X, Y, the LB/RB bumpers, LT/RT triggers and the D-pad. Unless told otherwise, enter codes from the pause or options menu, or while playing. Some cheats disable achievements for that save — keep a separate save before you start.

King of Fighters 2002 on Xbox has no traditional cheat codes. Its secrets are hidden characters, unlocked through Challenge mode and the character select screen.

| Kusanagi | Clear level 20 of Time Attack in Challenge mode, then hold R Trigger over Kyo. |
| Orochi Iori | Clear level 20 of Time Attack in Challenge mode, then hold R Trigger over Iori. |
| Geese Howard | Clear all 40 levels of Time Attack, then hold R Trigger over Billy. |
| Goenitz | Clear all 40 levels of Time Attack, then hold R Trigger over Rugal. |
Time Attack hint: a single run through all 40 levels of Time Attack in Challenge mode unlocks Kusanagi, Orochi Iori, Geese and Goenitz together, so it is worth finishing the mode in one go.
