How to use these cheats
Button names refer to the Xbox controller — A, B, X, Y, the LB/RB bumpers, LT/RT triggers and the D-pad. Unless told otherwise, enter codes from the pause or options menu, or while playing. Some cheats disable achievements for that save — keep a separate save before you start.

Halo 2 on the original Xbox has no button codes. Its secrets are the fifteen hidden skulls found on Legendary, plus the unlockable Foundation multiplayer map.

| Assassins | Regret: every enemy gains permanent active camouflage. |
| Black Eye | The Great Journey: shields recharge only through melee kills. |
| Blind | Outskirts: removes the HUD, arms and weapon view. |
| Catch | Metropolis: enemies throw grenades constantly. |
| Envy | Delta Halo: swaps the flashlight for a short active camouflage. |
| Famine | The Oracle: picked-up weapons carry half ammunition. |
| Ghost | Uprising: AI characters no longer flinch under fire. |
| Grunt Birthday Party | The Arbiter: Grunt headshots burst into confetti and cheering. |
| I Would Have Been Your Daddy | Outskirts: a rare spawn that unlocks hidden dialogue lines. |
| Iron | High Charity: in co-op, one death sends both players back to the last checkpoint. |
| Mythic | Sacred Icon: enemies gain much more health. |
| Sputnik | Quarantine Zone: lowers gravity and boosts explosive knockback. |
| That's Just Wrong | The Armory: a hidden skull grabbed from the tram that sharpens enemy senses. |
| Thunderstorm | Cairo Station: promotes enemies to higher ranks. |
Skull rules: Almost every skull only appears on Legendary and must be picked up by holding X. Effects stay active until the console is switched off or the skull is dropped and lost.
Blind skull grab: At the start of Outskirts, jump onto the lights above the first doorway, crouch-jump onto the sloped roof, then check the alley to the left for grenades and the skull.
Foundation map: Complete the campaign on any difficulty. To unlock it for a fresh profile, start a co-op game on The Great Journey with a completed profile, have the new player perform a barrel roll and a loop in the Banshee, then finish the level.
Ghost weak spot: Shoot the round fuel tank behind the Ghost's left wing; a few pistol rounds or one shotgun blast destroys it.
Tank weak spots: The Scorpion is softest in its hull and treads while the Wraith's rear armour is its weak point. Two rockets will knock out either tank.
Sword flying: In co-op, target your partner with an energy sword and tap X and B rapidly as they jump on you to ride their jump upwards and reach places you never could alone.
