How to use these cheats
Button names refer to the Xbox controller — A, B, X, Y, the LB/RB bumpers, LT/RT triggers and the D-pad. Unless told otherwise, enter codes from the pause or options menu, or while playing. Some cheats disable achievements for that save — keep a separate save before you start.

ESPN NHL Hockey on Xbox hides a full cheat menu behind one long button code, plus a few handy franchise exploits.
Unlock cheat menu: On the Main Menu select Game Modes, then on the Game Modes screen press R, R, L, Left, Left, Down, Y, R, Y, L, Up, Right, Y, Down, Left, Left, Y, R, Down, Up. If entered correctly the screen refreshes and Cheats appears at the bottom of the Game Modes screen. Every task is marked complete, so you can unlock each cheat individually and use the previously locked teams, jerseys, and the air hockey, mini rink, pond hockey and speed hockey mini-games.
Ultimate franchise: Start a franchise, go to the front office and open View Roster. Pick the player you want, then use Edit Player to boost every stat to 99.
Players never retire: In a franchise, open Edit Player and lower your players' ages so they never reach retirement.
Easier goals: Skate around behind the net and go for a wraparound shot on the far side of the goalie. It does not work every time, but it beats a straight shot.
Easier rewards: To earn rewards on a higher difficulty, pick the difficulty in General Options, then open Advanced Options and turn the CPU skills down while turning the human skills up.
Easy trades: In Roster Manager under Trade Players, the CPU accepts even lopsided deals, so swap low-rated players for 90-plus rated stars, then dress them under Player Status and slot them in via Edit Lines.
