What it is
Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is a remastered re-release of the 2010 Toy Story 3 videogame, brought to modern platforms for October 15, 2026. The release restores content that was previously restricted to particular versions of the original release (notably the ability to play as Emperor Zurg and additional theme packs), upgrades visuals and performance, and keeps the two main play pillars from the original: a Story Mode that follows scenes from the film, and the open, customisable Toy Box sandbox. The edition is published by Atari (with Digital Eclipse listed as the remaster developer) and will be available on PC and current consoles.

Story and setting
The game follows the same film beats as the 2010 release: Andy’s toys face being donated when he leaves for college, and the action ranges from Andy’s bedroom to Sunnyside Daycare, the junkyard and the train rescue sequence. Story Mode lets you swap between Woody, Buzz and Jessie to use each character’s distinct abilities to progress through set-piece levels adapted from the film.
The Toy Box Mode remains the headline attraction: a large, open-ended sandbox loosely themed around Woody’s Roundup where you accept non-linear quests from townsfolk, earn currency and customise buildings, citizens and vehicles. Publisher materials state the mode is intact and expanded with previously platform-locked content and four additional theme packs.
How it plays
Gameplay mirrors the 2010 design: third-person platforming and light action with collectables and mission-based objectives in both Story and Toy Box modes. Character switching plays into puzzle and traversal segments—Woody uses his pull string, Buzz excels at throwing and strength-based interactions, and Jessie has her own movement tools. The remaster advertises improved resolutions and framerates (publisher copy lists up to 4K at 60fps “depending on platform”). Local two-player split-screen co-op is explicitly supported in both Story and Toy Box modes; all official listings emphasise local/shared-screen play rather than online features.
The Complete Edition also advertises inclusion of content that was previously exclusive to particular older platforms (for example, Emperor Zurg being playable in Toy Box Mode and extra theme packs). System requirements posted on Steam reflect a modern PC remaster with modest storage and GPU needs compared with today’s big releases.
Platforms, editions and the UK angle
Atari’s product pages and storefront listings name a multi-format roll-out; confirmed platforms in official storefronts and publisher pages include PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S, with Steam and Atari listing PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms among target systems for the remastered line-up. The UK release date is Thursday 15 October 2026 (publisher storefronts and Steam list Oct 15, 2026). The Steam and Atari pages show the game available for wishlist/pre-order in multiple regions; the Xbox Store in the UK carries messaging about the new Complete Edition launching 15 October 2026 and notes that older versions were delisted ahead of the remaster’s release.
PEGI guidance for the release is listed as PEGI 7 on the Microsoft Store UK listing. Atari currently lists digital and physical options on its shop; regional UK RRP in pounds was not published on the official Steam or Atari product pages we checked, so UK retail prices should be confirmed at major retailers (GAME, Amazon UK, Xbox Store) before ordering.
Trailers, reveal and what’s confirmed
Atari and Digital Eclipse announced the project in early June 2026 alongside a Toy Story retro collection; the initial announcement trailer and publisher write-ups were released on 2–3 June 2026 and are reproduced on Atari’s site and across editorial outlets. Official pages and the Steam product listing confirm: the Oct 15, 2026 release date; the inclusion of previously exclusive content (Emperor Zurg playability, additional theme packs); upgraded visuals and framerate targets; local split-screen co-op; and that the remaster is being published under Atari with Digital Eclipse credited as the remaster developer (Steam lists Digital Eclipse as developer; Atari’s product pages also promote Digital Eclipse). The original 2010 developer (Avalanche Software) is associated with the 2010 release but Digital Eclipse is presented as the studio behind this remaster.
What remains unconfirmed
Publisher materials and storefronts do not list online multiplayer or any persistent online mode — every official feature list highlights local split-screen co-op. There is no confirmation from Atari, Steam or storefronts that the game will launch on Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. UK retail pricing by edition (digital/physical) and exact launch-day discounts or pre-order bonuses at specific UK retailers have not been published on official store pages and remain to be confirmed by retailers.
Not yet confirmed
- Whether the Complete Edition will appear on Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus at launch
- Exact UK RRP in pounds for digital and physical editions and any retailer-specific pre-order bonuses
- Any online multiplayer beyond local split-screen — publisher pages and storefronts list local co-op only
Toy Story 3 Complete Edition: your questions
Is Toy Story 3 Complete Edition the same game as the 2010 release?
It’s the 2010 game remastered: story structure, Toy Box Mode and original levels are retained, but the remaster restores content that had been restricted to particular older versions and updates visuals and performance for modern platforms.
Will the game have online multiplayer?
No — official listings from Atari and Steam confirm local split-screen co-op for two players but do not list any online multiplayer features; online modes have not been announced.
What platforms can I buy it on in the UK?
Steam (PC) and Xbox Series X|S are confirmed on official storefronts; Atari and Steam product pages also list PlayStation and Nintendo Switch among the target platforms for the remaster line-up — check your preferred retailer for platform-specific availability.
Is the Toy Box mode the same as before?
Yes — Toy Box remains a large, customisable sandbox where you accept quests, earn currency and personalise the environment and characters; the Complete Edition adds previously version-locked content (extra theme packs and Emperor Zurg playability).
