What it is

The Witch’s Bakery is a cosy 2D adventure-RPG about Lunne, a witch who opens a bakery in modern-day Paris and uses enchanted bread to heal people’s emotions. It’s developed by French indie studio Sunny Lab and published on consoles and PC by Silver Lining Interactive. The game is scheduled to release in the UK on 14 October 2026 (digital and physical listings show the same date) and is rated PEGI 12.

Story and setting

You play as Lunne, a joyful witch who arrives in Paris to run a small bakery. The narrative is built around everyday encounters: customers bring problems to the shop, and Lunne’s magic-infused baking becomes the vehicle for emotional healing. When a person’s feelings are too locked away, Lunne can enter a surreal “Heart Palace” — a symbolic, explorable space where emotions take physical form and need guiding back to the heart.

The setting is an explicitly Parisian, side-view 2D cityscape that the developer uses to frame short, character-led vignettes: riverside bookstalls, neighbourhood streets and small shops appear as distinct districts with their own characters and activities.

How it plays

Gameplay divides each day into three phases. Daytime is bakery service and crafting: you create breads and pastries using recipes and magic, then serve customers and address their emotional needs. Evenings let you explore Parisian districts to meet friends, progress relationships and open up Heart Palaces; nights are for resting, improving Lunne’s magic and decorating the bakery. The Steam store and developer material describe a roughly 12–15 hour playtime for a single playthrough.

Mechanically it blends light management and puzzle elements (creating the right bread to address a customer’s problem) with short exploration sections and story-driven character interactions. Combat is not a core focus; encounters inside Heart Palaces are presented as symbolic challenges rather than action-heavy sequences.

Platforms, editions and UK price

Sunny Lab lists the game’s target release as 14 October 2026 and the Steam store lists the same date; the game will be available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch (including Switch 2 listings). Publisher listings on Steam and Nintendo, and storefront pages, name Silver Lining Interactive as the publisher while Sunny Lab is credited as developer.

Physical and digital editions have been announced through the publisher: several retailer and Silver Lining listings show a standard physical edition priced around £29.99–£31 for UK pre-orders (publisher direct and UK retailers list £29.99 / retailer listing at £31). If you want a boxed copy in the UK, official pre-orders have been opened through Silver Lining Direct and major retailers. Digital storefronts list PC system requirements and language support; Nintendo and Microsoft pages show a PEGI 12 age rating for Europe.

Trailers, demos and what was shown

Sunny Lab and the publisher released an announcement and follow-up trailers (the developer’s website links trailers and the Steam page hosts a release-date trailer). The demo has been made available on Steam as a public demo and the developer’s social updates reference Steam Deck verification and community feedback from that demo. Trailers emphasise the three-phase daily structure, bakery service, Heart Palace sequences and Parisian districts; footage focuses on hand-drawn 2D presentation, writing and character moments rather than action gameplay.

Publisher and platform pages (Steam, Nintendo, Xbox store) are the primary sources for release date, platforms and store listings; ESRB material outlines content flags (romantic content and mild fantasy violence/suggestive themes) for the US rating.

What remains unconfirmed

Some earlier reports and press items gave different launch windows; the developer’s site and Steam page both show 14 October 2026 as the targeted release, which we treat as the confirmed date. Details still unconfirmed by the developer/publisher include exact UK digital prices for each platform at launch, any timed platform exclusivity or promotional inclusion in subscription services (Game Pass/PS Plus), and the full contents of any retailer-specific bonus items in the UK beyond publisher-direct pre-order wording.

Not yet confirmed

  • Any inclusion on Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus at launch — publisher has not confirmed subscription deals.
  • Exact UK digital RRP per platform and any platform-specific discounts or launch promotions beyond publisher pre-order listings.
  • Complete list of physical edition contents for every regional retailer (some regional partners list different bonus items).
